FOR PARENTS

Join Us on an Exciting Journey of Discovery!

At the Baby and Child Rebel Lab, we're on a mission to understand how people—starting as infants and continuing through adulthood—learn and process information about the world around them. But we can't do it alone; we rely on the incredible generosity and participation of families like yours!

Whether you're a parent of a newborn, a child, a young adolescent, or you're an adult interested in contributing to science, there's a place for you in our studies.

OUR CURRENT STUDIES

Experience, Learning, and Faces (E.L.F.)

  • Who Can Participate: Children aged 6 to 9 years and adults.

  • What’s It About: This study looks at how social experiences shape our ability to recognize different faces.

  • Why It Matters: Understanding how these abilities develop can help in fields ranging from education to technology.

Multiple Group Perceptions (MGP)

  • Who Can Participate: Children aged 7.5 to 9.5 and 12.5 to 14.5 years old.

  • What’s It About: We examine how children form opinions about others and how these opinions change based on different factors.

  • Why It Matters: This research can lead to insights into how biases form and evolve, potentially informing interventions to reduce bias.

Voice Assistance Studies

(V.A.)

  • Who Can Participate: Children aged 7.5 to 9.5 years old and adults.

  • What’s It About: We’re exploring how kids and adults interact with voice assistance like Siri or Alexa, focusing on gender and pronoun usage.

  • Why It Matters: As technology becomes more integrated into our lives, this research can inform the development of more inclusive AI.

Face Recognition Studies

  • Who Can Participate: Infants between 5.5 and 10.5 months old.

  • What’s It About: We use eye-tracking technology to see how babies recognize and differentiate between faces.

  • Why It Matters: These findings can help us understand the early stages of social development.

Intermodal Knowledge (IK)

  • Who Can Participate: Infants at 5, 8, or 11 months old.

  • What’s It About: This study explores how babies can match a voice to the correct face.

  • Why It Matters: Early understanding of how infants process multisensory information can inform both developmental psychology and education.
